Day 10: Spokane, WA to Coer D’Alene Casino near Worley, ID. 30 miles. 3 hrs.
Woke up today on Eric’s air mattress feeling rather comfy. I thought I was hearing intense rain but when I looked outside it looked like its going to be a good day. I made a peanut butter/jelly sandwich for breakfast and Eric wished me good luck as I rode off. Thank you Eric, you’re an awesome guy and I wish you luck on the PCH! I jumped on the Palouse highway and sped through many rollers, with some climbs. After seeing many coffee/Humpday treats I knew I needed to stop. I found my favorite cookie my mom makes, 7-layer cookie and knew it was a sign. Though it wasn’t as good as my moms, she was heavy on my mind after. The temperatures dropped to low 40s and I double layered my gloves and socks. Just four miles before the border I stopped again to grab my last beer in Washington. I ended up staying there for almost two hours. Sitting with the locals getting my education on about Obamacare from a bunch of old guy blue collar guys. The rain started to come on through and I got invited to stay with some of the guys but I thanked them and said I had to get to Idaho! So my rain gear was on and I was off. A few more climbs, a lot of rain. Slick roads with a narrow shoulder brought me into Idaho. I was taking self-timer photos of myself at the welcome sign when a huge truck purposefully splashed my entire being with water. I was wet but now I was soaked and shaking from being too cold. I rode into the casino and decided to stay for the night. I couldn’t really afford it but I also couldn’t afford being frozen the rest of the day and night…I got lost trying to find my room and walked all through the casino with my bike. Lots of head turns, what a surprise! I had so much room in my room, took a hot shower and headed down to the casino. I was lost while in there, I don’t understand any of it besides blackjack. So I lost $22…and decided to get dinner, I had a lovely meal. Fine dining in my flipflops and shorts. Turned in early and am now enjoying a buffet breakfast!
