Thursday October 22, 2015, 38 miles (61 km) – Total so far: 12,613 miles (20,299 km)
We have cycled into our 28th country of Honduras. Even though it was only 20 miles it was one of our biggest challenges yet to cross the Sierras Del Espiritu Santo Mountains. We exited Guatemala with no problems after paying $2.50 each then entered Honduras at a cost of $3 each. While riding from the border a kind senor stopped us and told us about his family run hotel in the Mayans ruins town of Copan. We easily found Hotel MarJenny and felt right at home with this fine family that speaks English. Without air conditioning the cost is an excellent $20. Whenever anyone comes up to us to suggest this or that we usually investigate as I like people who are enterprising and not just waiting for customers to come in the door.
Tomorrow we will do one of our favorite things – explore ruins in the ancient Mayan town of Copan. Then we will ride through this extremely mountainous country in search of my niece and Jocelyn’s cousin, Kate.
