We spent Valentine’s Day exploring the city then found a cool happy hour on a terrace. We found out that alcohol can only be served on some hotel terrace bars. It cannot be served at street level because of disrespect to the Islamic religion. Old Media town (the old conservative part) is a real hoot at night. There were so many locals that we enjoyed just trying to communicate with.
Last year my cousin Al and his daughter Kathy travelled to Marrakech to participate in a charity walk of 100 miles over the Sahara Desert. We hired their tour guide for a one day 4 wheel drive up near the top of the Atlas Mountains. The tour of mountain villages, along with meeting several local Berbers was fantastic.
The weather has turned and it is now raining hard. Since we are living in a 3 sided shack (which I call a cabana) our wet weather gear is coming in handy. We decided to delay our start from Marrakech one day and are looking at other options of cycle touring the more African Southern Morocco.
that sand formation is creepy…reminds me of giger aliens.
dude…you actually found waldo. lots of awesome shots in this gallery. downloading them all!
Thanks. There are trinkets on the way!
Thanks Bruce. We later heard that if there is a snake, this is a water snake, on you the cobra will not strike. As I said the snake struck the one guy many times. When you sent the lyrics I immediately understood what the song was saying.
These pictures are priceless and their memories are more valuable than the trinkets they want to sell you. Thank yo for sharing and keeping us in the moments. Where’s your jacket, Mike? Love always, Andee ms
Nice photos Mike. Liked Joc’s picture with the Cobra charmer the other day. What was the snake around her neck?
Charming cobras in the square,indeed!
