Tuesday March 4, 2014, 46 miles (74 km) – Total so far: 369 miles (594 km)
March 4, 2014 Yesterday we researched how to get out of Algeciras as there is a motorway and a 4 lane carriage way. This carriage way does allow bikes so we chose that route. After about five miles on this busy road we saw a parallel frontage road that we exited to. It was a very pleasant ride along the Spanish country side. We then found a gated beach community that Jocelyn had researched and the guard let us through. What a score riding along this private beach route that eventually turned into a road like Pacific Coast Highway in Southern California. The road was very hilly but thoroughly entertaining although the wind was still blowing hard and it was cold. After a delicious Mexican lunch in a port-side patio we continued in this California like setting. Later in the afternoon the coastal road disappeared and we were forced on the main highway. After several miles of this we decided the traffic was too heavy so we pulled off into the town of Puerto (Port) Banus, Marabella. What a delightful coast town that is obviously full of money. The houses, shops, and yachts are very impressive. I think we will see more of this as we ride the coast. Tomorrow we will stay with a couple Jocelyn found on warmshowers.com.

A beautiful Spanish Mediterranean coastline.
