Back to the Mediterranean coast

Monday March 10, 2014, 42 miles (68 km) – Total so far: 511 miles (822 km)

March 10, 2014 We decided to return to the coast since this stretch was all on N340 which parallels the dreaded A7. It was a great choice as the road reminded us of the northern California coastal route of Big Sur. Traffic was light and the scenery very heavy with cliff climbs to 600 feet over the sea. The day was long until we reached the town of Almunecar after 42 miles. There we found an inexpensive hotel and cafe that served an excellent pizza.

At the lake mobile home on Sunday we spent half the day doing laundry and trying to burn the mobile home. Jocelyn heated coffee on the electric stove, turned the burner off (red light out). The washing machine, our first since leaving the states, took a few hours for two loads. Jocelyn went back to the mobile home to get something and the coffee pot was burning as the stove never turned off.

In this picture you can see three of the watch towers. If one saw an enemy ship approach all were alerted.
