Day 7: Another hot but pretty ride.

Monday September 12, 2011, 69 miles (111 km) – Total so far: 435 miles (700 km)

We woke at sunrise and it took us 2 hours to break camp and reload. It’s a lot of work to camp but we work well as a team. We began another long hot ride continuing west on HWY 98. But we are now riding on the coast and the butterflies are plentiful. It was still in the 100’s. We rode for several hours to Carrabelle when we stopped at an old time fountain diner – another excellent stop – where it seems all the locals were having lunch. We chatted with several of them. We first came upon a Subway and shook our heads. After several streets I glanced to the right and saw this gem. We had an excellent lunch and split a real malt for dessert. Calories are burned quickly while riding! We continued the ride over several bridges across to Apalachicola then decided to stop in Port St. Joe for the night. We are staying in an old converted building called the Port Inn and enjoying the hospitality.
