A few scenes from Puerto Vallarta

Friday September 4, 2015

Happy 30th birthday to my son Cary in Florida! We hope to meet him in Ecuador for a side trip to the Galapagos Islands.

We walked to downtown Puerto Vallarta along the beach. To the north are all the major resorts. In the middle are the cruise ship terminals.

To the south is the city and boardwalk and the mountain we will ride across tomorrow.

Our first Senior Frogs. Many years ago my parents' were on a cruise ship that stopped here. They brought me a t-shirt. Expensive and overrated.

We ordered the wings for lunch and left hungry. Only 7 wings.

At our next spot we enjoyed excellent Chilean mussels. In fact we stopped in the kitchen and told the chef so.

Our hotel for about $32 a night. Across the street are $180 a night "resorts and spas". We really enjoyed our spot and beautiful pool. Down the street was a Domino's Pizza. Yes we took a break from Mexican food.

The streets are difficult just to walk on. We left the boardwalk in a thunderstorm so took a taxi. He flew across the streets and every time I looked at him because of the speed he laughed. I guess if you minimize the wheel time on the ground it is easier on the car.

  1. Thank you Tere. We left Puerto Vallarta two days ago and tonight we are in Perula about 90 miles south. We had a great time in Puerto Vallarta. Sorry we missed you. Mike

  2. Hi! My name is Tere. I live in Puerto Vallarta. I hope that you enjoy your visit to our city. Have a good trip!!! I would like to know you and to show you beautiful places.

  3. Thanks Andee. We made it over the hill after an all day climb. The traffic was light so it was okay. Lots of rain. In another cheap hotel. It is a lot cooler here but we chose not to camp because it will lightning and thunder all night. Love you.

  4. I am thinking that your ride in a taxi would be a bit like the ones in Istanbul. It is interesting that you can compare so many large cities and they all seem to want to get you out of their vehicles, and charge more than is necessary! Cary and I had a good dinner and cake, more to follow, and we missed you in person! Of course, our Skype calls keep you in the loop, but sometimes they freeze the focus and it is funny!
I am thinking about you today as you approach the summit to El Tuito, and I hope you make good choices….considering the road conditions and the edge. I did not like Hwy 101 in northern Calif. and you agreed south of Eureka. This time, take it easy and I know you will find the right balance. Can’t wait to read a new post and find a message that you are safely over the mountain. Love always, Andee
