Day 13: Ready for another start tomorrow.

Thursday October 6, 2011

I have been recuperating in a nice motel room in Gulf Breeze that is right on Pensacola Bay. We were going to store the bikes in Pensacola at a neighbor’s relative’s house and stay with friends in Tallahassee but there is no way I could travel. Jocelyn’s friend from FSU came and picked her up for the week while I stayed here and walked and rested. I did some deep breathing exercises to keep my lungs clear. I progressively felt better and prepared for another restart. On Wednesday I rode my bike around the neighborhood and filled the tires. I was sore but it was okay. I’m sure it will be different with the panniers added. My son and Jocelyn arrived here Wednesday morning and we had some fun. I am off the meds to clear my head for biking. Biking cross country with a broken rib will be a lot harder but I am ready. The nurse practitioner recommended resting for a week then continuing depending on how pain tolerant I am. I’ll soon learn that.
