Continuing north into the mountains

Friday March 7, 2014, 17 miles (27 km) – Total so far: 432 miles (695 km)

March 7, 2014 We continued north into increasingly steep climbs. I had my first periods of walking up the steep areas and hope that my climbing legs develop soon. Jocelyn did walk once. She is a real champ and carrying more weight. Because of this we only rode 17 miles but that took us all day. We found another nice hostel in the very small town of La Joya which is built on a mountainside. Everyone we saw with bikes was walking them around as the streets are just too steep. Once in town we stopped at a bar for a quick beer. People asked us where we had come from. When we said “Alora” they said “Aiii!”, put their hand in the almost vertical position and shook their heads.

After a few hours of climbing we found this small town. We bought two cervazes at the gas station and drank them at the park. We don't know how legal that was but didn't care.
