Riding east through the mountains

Sunday March 9, 2014, 37 miles (60 km) – Total so far: 469 miles (755 km)

March 8-9, 2014 After another great sleep in the tiny mountain village of La Joya we began riding east through many peaks and valleys. I was climbing better today and Jocelyn owned the hills. I did walk a few steep climbs though. It was such a beautiful weather day with a small headwind that we decided after passing village after village to keep going and see how far we could get. Around 6 pm after 36 miles we came upon our first Spanish lake – Presa de la Vinuela along with a campground. At reception I noticed there were mobile homes available for just a few euros more. Since the tent camping areas were just covered pavilions we decided to stay in a mobile home for two nights. There was no camping directly on the lake.

Another excellent dinner last night and we are now resting and doing laundry. Looking forward to continuing east tomorrow to Sierra de Almijara.

A fine morning for a ride.

The last house on the left! This creepy horse in the doorway kept staring at us like he was trying to get us to come in.
