South into the flatland of Thailand

Sunday December 14, 2014, 230 miles (370 km) – Total so far: 7,359 miles (11,843 km)

Sunday December 14, 2014 Three days 230 miles We left Tak while Bea and Peter decided to stay and take a break after many days on the road. Jocelyn immediately found a small parallel road to head south on. This was a very good choice as we rode along cane fields and banana plantations. We thought we were in Hawaii with all the cane trucks driving by. But as unbelievable as it sounds they were very courteous with us bikers. I lived in Kauai, Hawaii in the mid-70’s and they were a terror on the road then.

We continued south exploring the beautiful countryside along a large river and there are many small roads to explore. This area of Thailand is very flat so the miles flew by for once.

There were no restaurants open near our bungalow. The local market guy heated water for our noodle soup bowls and sat us next to their home. The mosquitoes were awful but the Thai friends we met were fun.

Merry Christmas from the Rice's! The sleigh picture was taken in Iran and the background ice picture last winter while I was stationed at the South Pole. My son Cary did the photoshop.
