It rained all night then started up again in the afternoon. One of my two falls. Ouch!
Looking at El Salvador.El Salvador Achieved – our 29th country to bicycle in.
This type of road is made for walking the bikes.Another mountain to pass. Very imposing looking.
A fine dinner of pupusas. A pupusa is a traditional Salvadorian dish made of a thick, handmade corn tortilla that is usually filled with a blend of the following: cheese cooked and seasoned pork meat ground to a paste consistency refried beans, or queso con loroco. We like them with beans, cheese, and the delicious local mushrooms.Where’s Waldo? Some parts of this road is solid rock ground down – somewhat.
Pleanty of room in this truck. While we were headed downhill there was an uphill race.A fine El Salvador beer.On the way to San Miguel, Volcano San Miguel. This volcano is 7,000 feet and erupted less than two years ago December 29, 2013.Entering San Miguel. The bus drivers in San Miguel are very aggressive as in fast and close.Double rolls of razor wire are very common here in both commercial and residential areas.A few pictures by Jocelyn. On this road I would prefer climbing. While descending both brakes must be held. A momentary let up could throw you off the bike.

As always a big thanks to you George.
Great pictures, Safe travels my friends. George
What a country to travel through! I can’t imagine driving a car on those roads. Yuk! I am happy that you made it to the coast and are going to avoid some of the road conditions to get to Nicaragua safely! We are grateful that you are both feeling better, but that means you need to stay out of the buses’ path! Just keep moving and I hope you hear from Ana about her travels and a place to rest in San Juan del Sur! Love always, andee
